But did you know Musk’s obsession with games started when he was a child? Not only that, but he created a video game at the age of 13 and was paid for it.
Musk’s passion for gaming has been extensively covered in his newly released biography by Walter Isaacson. The book also tells how, when he was 13, the SpaceX founder produced a video game and sold it to a magazine.
How Did Elon Musk Create His Game?
Musk teaches himself programming using Pascal and Turbo C++, according to the book. When he was 13, he designed Blastar, a video game in which he had to destroy an alien space freighter carrying lethal hydrogen bombs and status beam devices.
Musk received USD 500 for selling this video game to a magazine. Following that, Musk, then 13, sold two more video games to the magazine.
One game was akin to Donkey Kong (a popular arcade game that became extremely popular in the 1990s), while another was a roulette and blackjack stimulator.
Elon Musk Is A Hardcore Game Lover
Musk made headlines in May of this year when he revealed his design for the popular open-world fantasy game Elden Ring.
The game, developed by FromSoftware Inc, was a huge hit last year and was one of the finest games released in 2022. Anyone who has played a Souls game knows how difficult they can be.
Elden Ring was also offered for individuals who were eager to begin playing Souls games. Nonetheless, many players found the game to be a formidable foe.
Musk happily displayed his character build on Twitter at level 111. However, Souls game veterans criticized his build and labeled it inefficient. Nonetheless, one thing is certain: Musk enjoys games.
In his biography, Walter Isaacson recounts his cousin Peter Rive as saying, “If you’re playing with Elon, you play pretty much nonstop until you have to eat.”
The book also claims that Musk once discovered how to hack all games in a mall while on vacation, and he and his cousins enjoyed playing games for free without having coins.
Musk wanted to open his own arcade as a teenager and figured out how to make it a viable business. The issue occurred when he and his cousins were required to obtain city licenses.
The application needed to be closed by an adult, and Musk couldn’t ask his father Errol to do so, therefore the plan never materialized.
The book also includes a remark from Musk’s ex-girlfriend Grimes, who remembers Musk staying up until 5 a.m. playing Elden Ring after he offered to acquire Twitter.
