Netflix will open physical stores where fans can binge merch, themed food, and live events.
If watching Netflix at home isn’t enough, you’ll soon be able to buy clothing, live events, and themed meals based on the streaming service’s most popular titles.
Netflix wants to build a new series of retail stores called “Netflix House,” where fans can immerse themselves in the worlds of Stranger Things, Squid Game, Bridgerton, and other movies and TV shows.
On Thursday, Bloomberg reported on the streaming giant’s retail initiative, which arose from the company’s recent trial with pop-up shops.
Netflix House, according to Josh Simon, Netflix’s vice president of consumer products, will allow fans to shop for clothing, eat meals themed after the company’s entertainment brands, and participate in live activities such as an obstacle course right out of Squid Game.
“We’ve seen how much fans love to immerse themselves in the world of our movies and TV shows, and we’ve been thinking a lot about how we take that to the next level,” Simon told Bloomberg.
Netflix will open the first two Netflix House sites in the United States in 2025, followed by global expansion. Ticketed shows and restaurants with food ranging from fast casual to high-end dining, desserts, and spirits inspired by unscripted shows (like cookery shows) and popular series will be included in each location.
To give you an idea of the types of fan experiences Netflix House will provide, the company hosted The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience in ten cities across North America, from New York to Los Angeles to Montreal.
Fans there lived out their Bridgerton fantasies for one night while drinking and dancing to classical renditions of their favorite pop songs.
