All Confirmed Video Games Coming Out In 2024

GameWinger previews the 2024 video games, including release dates for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Tekken 8, Hades 2, and many more.

The issue with 2024 is that we have less information on what’s coming out this year than normal because companies released so few new games last year. Microsoft and Sony were notably tight-lipped, with only two vague pledges for 2024 releases for Avowed and Hellblade 2.

Even Nintendo is being coy about its plans for the second half of the year, which may or may not include the Switch 2.

As is customary, we’ve divided our list between those games that the publisher has confirmed for this year, those that are unverified but relatively plausible, and those that we either know for sure won’t be released in 2024 or are otherwise extremely unlikely. Keep in mind that plans do change, although rarely in terms of progress.

Most Anticipated

Tekken 8 (XSX/PS5/PC) – January 26th
Pitched as the most technologically advanced fighting game ever created, this will have to be very good to compete with Street Fighter 6, but what we’ve seen so far is very remarkable.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League (XSX/PS5/PC) – February 2nd
Rocksteady’s co-op live service shooter has had a long, bumpy road, but it has begun to look a little better in recent footage. Now the question is, will that be enough to overcome its terrible reputation?

Skull And Bones (XSX/PS5/PC) – 16 February
In comparison, the formation of the Suicide Squad has been smooth sailing. A decade in the works, a multiplayer pirate sim. But it’s still unclear who it’s for, especially when Sea Of Thieves already exists.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (PS5) – February 29th
The second installment of the remake trilogy is the biggest PlayStation 5 exclusive currently planned. Given how wonderfully the first installment turned out, expectations are high that this will strike a similarly gratifying balance between old and new.

Star Wars Outlaws (XSX/PS5/PC)
Ubisoft’s open-world scoundrel simulator was meant to be released earlier this year, but it now appears that it will be lucky not to be postponed until 2025, despite looking terrific during its reveal last summer.

Rise Of The Ronin (PS5) – March 22nd
It doesn’t appear that a new Nioh game will be released anytime soon, but this is from the same studio. It looks extremely promising, albeit with a more somber tone influenced by Ghost Of Tsushima.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape (XO/PS4/XSX/PS5/PC) – June 4
Given the troubles at Bungie right now, this needs to be a success. However, it’s unclear what happens next once this chapter of the story concludes.

Alone In The Dark

Other Exciting Video Games

Unicorn Overlord (PS4/NS/XSX/PS5/PC) – March 8th
This tactical strategy game from the creators of Dragon’s Crown and 13 Sentinels boasts Vanillaware’s usual breathtaking artwork and hopefully plays as well as it looks.

Alone In The Dark (XSX/PS5/PC) – March 20
Another game that has already been postponed multiple times. The original is considered the grandfather of survival horror. The reboot is written by the same person who wrote Amnesia: The Dark Descent, which bodes well.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 (XSX/PS5/PC) – March 22nd
Capcom’s open-world action role-player is back, and it looks nearly identical to the original. It’s looking complete with false co-op options that substitute human allies with AI-controlled pawns.

Princess Peach: It’s Showtime! (NS)
This could be the Switch’s final major first-party release, as well as only the second time Peach has had a major game to herself.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (XO/PS4/NS/XSX/PS5/PC) – April 23rd
The spiritual successor to Suikoden, created by several of the originals’ developers, will hopefully make up for years of poor official sequels.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU (NS/XSX/PS5/PC) – April 23rd
This appears to be an intriguing-looking Metroidvania based on African folklore. It is allegedly a very personal project for the developer, as announced at The Game Awards.

Black Myth: Wukong (XSX/PS5/PC) – August 20
It looks great in terms of graphics, but until we see how it plays, we’re not sure what to think of this big-budget take on Journey To The West.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 (XSX/PS5/PC) – September 9th
Warhammer is bigger than ever right now, so it’ll be fascinating to see how this does, though hopefully, it won’t be as one-note as the original.

Avowed (XSX/PC)
Obsidian has been working on this Skyrim-style role-player for years. We’ve just seen a few seconds of footage, but it’s expected to be released this year.
